Echo Beach
“There’s a touch of R2-D2 or C-3PO about this thing. It’s always offering friendly reminders to drink more, or telling me “I’m running a bit low on battery”, fairly cute at the beginning, ultimately a little annoying!”
But it’s all for the greater good! Hydrogen water is the latest craze sweeping the world of creative content producers and popular podcasters, with claims that it’s putting pep in all aspects of people’s performance.
Can it help golfers? That’s the 300-dollar question! That’s how much an Echo Flask will set you back!
MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE
The packaging and overall presentation is super slick!
The science, if you care to delve deeper, is that these gaseous little gizmos turn water into wine-for-the-soul, sparkling, hydrogenated, health-enhancing H2O.
Given hydrogen's propensity to act as a selective antioxidant, neutralising harmful free radicals and reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, in plain English, you’ll feel more energised, recover from exercise faster and have fewer aches and pains.
“Joe Rogan put me onto it when he interviewed the CEO of Echo Flask. And if JR thinks it’s good, most of the modern world will follow suit!”
I did! My unit was sent all the way from Utah, lost its way temporarily then lost its fizz after the first week. A second unit winged its way eventually to my Madeiran hideaway and has been bubbling away at least three times a day ever since.
One thing’s for sure, it’s upped my daily water intake. The Echo Flask suggests you put down at least three a day, and for best results, drink it as soon as it’s charged, which takes 10 minutes. I tend to go for it in the mornings, and three flasks worth is easily doable!
“Has it lubricated my back swing, put fizz into my approach shots or made my three-putts more tolerable? ”
I wish! But I do detect some benefits, albeit subtle. I do believe my sleep pattern’s improved, I can still scale the heights of Paleiro Golfe with a half set on my back and my daily swim seems easier and I can do more lengths.
ON COURSE
Should you take the flask onto the golf course? I don’t think so! It seems robust enough but I do feel a little bit precious about it, seeing my first unit failed. Mine stays in the kitchen and gets used as part of the morning routine.
Is it good for the European market, coming all the way from the USA? Being halfway out in the Atlantic, I’m sure it’s only Madeira that goes through such delivery difficulties. European companies are providing a similar product but I reckon you should pay for a more expensive unit rather than waste your time & money on a cheap knock-off.
So I’ll keep at it. Whether it transforms my game is another question but I must say, I do feel ‘above par’ in terms of general health since I’ve been hydrogenating. Maybe it’s just all the extra water!
