Host to the 2030 Walker Cup

The original three 9 hole loops of Prince’s look towards Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports

Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent and close to Royal St George's, has announced a new championship composite course called The Laddie, bringing together the finest holes from its three existing nines—The Shore, The Dunes and The Himalayas. Created in collaboration with The R&A and architects Mackenzie & Ebert, the routing has been designed specifically for elite competition and future major championships.

The name honours P.B. “Laddie” Lucas, one of the club’s most revered figures. A distinguished amateur golfer and RAF pilot, Lucas famously navigated his damaged Spitfire back to Prince’s during World War II, landing safely on the links using his intimate knowledge of the Kent coastline and the course itself.

The new layout pulls five holes from The Himalayas, six from The Shore and seven from The Dunes, creating what the club believes is its strongest championship test to date. Prince’s has spent heavily in recent years restoring natural sandscrapes, firming up fairways and reviving the rugged pre-war character that once made the links one of England’s most feared venues.

Already one of the country’s finest modern links experiences, Prince’s continues to evolve ahead of hosting the 2030 Walker Cup—and The Laddie may well prove the final piece of the puzzle.
