Duca del Cosma

You know you’re on to something when an Italian golf pro compliments you on your choice of footwear.

Especially when he himself is dressed to the nines!

The phrase ‘dressed to the nines,’ by the way is not Italian but Scottish dating back to the 18th-century Scottish Jacobite poet William Hamilton: “The bonny Lines therein thou sent me, How to the nines they did content me.”

Robert Burns echoed the sentiment… “Thou paints auld nature to the nines, In thy sweet Caledonian lines.”

SIZE 9

My Duca del Cosma ‘Monterosso Navies’ are a UK size 9 too!

They’re billed as “designed to be worn on and off the course” and in a footnote, “this shoe is not waterproof”.

I’ll jump in and say, these puppies are strictly for the street. On a recent golf trip to Tuscany, my son sported a pair of Monterossos in brown. They didn’t last the trip!

The Monterosso is a great-looking, sneaker-styled street shoe. But they’re just not built that well. Mine have never seen sight of a fairway and I got maybe 18 months out of them before they frayed at the edges.
